RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) identifies targets and reads/writes data via radio signals without line-of-sight contact. Application scenarios: supply chain inventory management (batch reading, improved counting efficiency), logistics tracking (real-time location monitoring), anti-counterfeiting (unique chip ID hard to forge), cold chain temperature monitoring (active RFID can record temperature). RFID tags are relatively costly (RMB 0.5β3 each), suitable for high-value products and batch management scenarios.
QR codes are extremely low cost (printing suffices), store large amounts of information, and can be read by smartphone scanning. Application scenarios: product traceability (scan to view production, inspection, logistics information), anti-counterfeiting (one item one code + verification code), marketing interaction (scan for red packets, points, follow official account), and usage instructions (video tutorials, parameter queries). QR codes are currently the most widely used smart packaging technology.
Traceability system architecture: data collection layer (production equipment, inspection instruments, logistics GPS) β data transmission layer (IoT gateways, 4G/5G) β data platform layer (cloud servers, databases) β application layer (consumer query terminal, enterprise management terminal, regulatory terminal). The key is ensuring data authenticity and immutability, which can be combined with blockchain technology. Enterprises must plan coding rules (e.g., GS1 standards) and data collection nodes.
Benefits of smart packaging include: reducing counterfeiting losses, improving supply chain efficiency (lower inventory and stockouts), enhancing consumer trust and brand loyalty, and obtaining consumer data to guide marketing. Costs include: tag/printing costs, system development and maintenance costs, and data management costs. Starting with a pilot project (e.g., a single product line) and expanding gradually after verifying effectiveness is recommended.
