New employee onboarding training is the first step in employee integration, directly affecting probation pass rate and early turnover. Systematic onboarding training helps new employees adapt quickly and create value.
Onboarding training should cover three levels: β company level (corporate culture, development history, organizational structure, rules and regulations, compensation and benefits, products and business); β‘ department level (department responsibilities, team members, work processes, job requirements, performance standards); β’ job level (job responsibilities, operational skills, tool usage, safety regulations). Training content should be differentiated by job category (management, technical, sales, operations), avoiding "one-size-fits-all."
A "30-60-90 day" onboarding plan is recommended: Week 1 (centralized training + department familiarization), Month 1 (job skills training + job shadowing), Month 2 (independently handleportion work + regular feedback), Month 3 (independent work + probation evaluation). Day 1 is particularly important: welcome ceremony, office equipment preparation, mentor introduction, first-day work arrangement. Avoid "free-range" onboarding (no one manages, no one teaches).
Assign each new employee a mentor (experienced employee in the same department), responsible for: work guidance (answer questions, share experience), cultural integration (introduce unwritten rules, interpersonal relationships), emotional support (care about adaptation, relieve anxiety). Mentors should receive training, with clear responsibilities and incentives (mentor allowance, performance bonus, priority in awards). Mentoring significantly improves new employees' sense of belonging and retention rate.
New employee turnover is highest in the first 3 months. Retention strategies: β clear work goals and expectations (avoid new employees not knowing what to do); β‘ regular 1-on-1 communication (weekly/biweekly, understand adaptation, solve problems); β’ timely feedback and recognition (acknowledge progress, point out shortcomings); β£ reasonable workload (avoid overloading from the start); β€ focus on team integration (introduce colleagues, invite to team activities). Conducting new employee satisfaction surveys on Day 7, Day 30, and Day 60 to identify problems promptly is recommended.
