Corporate income tax (CIT) annual reconciliation is one of the most important annual tax compliance tasks for enterprises. The 2026 reconciliation period runs from January 1 to May 31, and enterprises must complete annual filing within the prescribed period.
Enterprises under audit-based collection must complete reconciliation within 5 months after the fiscal year-end. Enterprises under deemed collection must also file annual returns as required. Branch offices are subject to consolidated calculation and allocation by the head office, with branches paying locally according to their apportioned share.
The annual tax return is centered on Form A (main form), supported by supplementary forms for revenue, costs and expenses, tax adjustments, and tax incentives. Enterprises should select and complete supplementary forms based on actual business activities; unneeded forms need not be selected. Small low-profit enterprises may be exempt from filing certain supplementary forms.
CIT incentive items follow the system of "self-assessment, declaration-based enjoyment, and relevant documentation retained for inspection." Enterprises must retain contracts, certificates, and accounting records for incentive items for 10 years, to be provided upon subsequent tax authority review.
Key areas of focus: accuracy of revenue recognition timing, compliance of expense deduction vouchers, conformity of asset depreciation and amortization periods, arm's length compliance of related-party transactions, and whether loss carryforwards are within the 5-year limitation period.
