CCC Mandatory Product Certification Scope and Application Process

2026-07-15 CccSun Editorial

CCC certification (China Compulsory Certification) is a legal market access requirement for certain products sold in China. Products without CCC certification may not be manufactured for sale, sold, imported, or used in other business activities.

1. Certified Product Scope

The CCC catalogue covers 22 major product categories, including: wires and cables, circuit switches and protective/connecting electrical devices, low-voltage electrical appliances, small-power motors, electric tools, welding machines, household and similar equipment, audio/video equipment, information technology equipment, lighting appliances, motor vehicles and safety accessories, tires, safety glass, agricultural machinery, telecommunications terminal equipment, fire protection products, and security products. The catalogue is published and dynamically adjusted by the State Administration for Market Regulation.

2. Certification Modes

The basic CCC certification mode is: type test + initial factory inspection + post-certification surveillance. Some products may use simplified modes (e.g., self-declaration evaluation). The certification applicant may be the producer, manufacturer, importer, or seller. Different models of the same product may be applied as one certification unit.

3. Application Process

β‘  Submit application to a designated certification body (providing product manual, specifications, circuit schematics, key component list, etc.); β‘‘ certification body accepts and issues type test notification; β‘’ samples sent to designated laboratory for testing; β‘£ after passing testing, initial factory inspection (quality assurance capability and product consistency); β‘€ certification body evaluates, approves, and issues CCC certificate.

4. Certificate Maintenance and Mark Use

CCC certificates are valid for 5 years; annual surveillance inspections (factory inspection and/or product testing) are required after certification. Changes to certificate information require modification applications. Products must bear the CCC mark before being manufactured for sale. Marks may be standard-size (purchased) or non-standard-size (printed/molded, requiring filing). Failure to use marks properly or manufacturing for sale during certificate suspension may result in penalties.
